When I catch myself looking too far ahead—fixated on goals, deadlines, or where I “should” be—I take a breath and remember Mandy Hale’s words. I remind myself that this exact moment, no matter how chaotic or calm, is still part of the journey I once dreamed of.

I used to think joy was something I had to earn—after reaching milestones or hitting targets. But joy is available now. In the giggle I share with my daughter between Zoom calls. In the smell of coffee before sunrise. In the messy, imperfect progress I make every day. It’s easy to rush past the moment. It takes courage to stay in it—and love it anyway.

Let’s talk about mindful transitions. Not just the big ones like changing careers or starting a new business, but the tiny ones—the ones between checking email and heading into a client call, or switching from work mode to dinner prep. I’ve learned that how I move between moments matters. If I carry stress from one task into the next, it multiplies. But if I pause—even for just one breath—it resets my energy.

Now, I try to make those micro-transitions intentional. I close my laptop and take one deep breath before shifting gears. I listen to a favorite song while walking to the kitchen. These tiny acts bring me back to the present. They don’t take extra time, just extra attention. And over time, that presence has helped me feel less scattered and more whole, even on the busiest days.
