But when I pause, even briefly, I notice that I have a choice. I don’t have to act on the first thought or emotion that shows up. I can slow down and decide how I want to respond in this moment.

​Right now, staying mindful helps me protect my energy and my clarity. That pause gives me room to breathe, think, and respond with intention instead of habit. In that space, I’m able to act in ways that reflect who I am now, not just how I feel in the heat of the moment.

When I feel triggered, I practice a simple pause. I stop, take one slow breath, and notice what I’m feeling before I respond. This short break helps me regain balance and avoid reacting impulsively.
