"A mind set in its ways is wasted." This quote by Eric Schmidt hits me in a place I didn’t even know needed shaking. As women business owners, we juggle so much with deadlines, decisions, and sometimes, doubt. It’s easy to fall into familiar routines because they feel safe. But being mindful means staying curious, open, and flexible in our thinking. It means noticing when we’re resisting change, even if that change could be good for us.
Every time I’ve loosened my grip on old ideas, something fresh has found its way in a new client, a new system, a new sense of peace. Mindfulness helps us pause just long enough to consider other ways of doing things. And maybe that’s the key to not just surviving in business, but growing with grace and grit.

Loosen the Grip: Practice Letting Go of Mental Habits
Take five minutes today to observe your thoughts, especially when something unexpected happens. Did your mind jump to the usual script? “I can’t handle this,” or “That’s not how I do things”? When that happens, just breathe. Let the thought float by like a cloud. You don’t have to fix or judge it. Just see it.
One simple daily practice is to try something in a new way. Use your non-dominant hand for a task, walk a different route, or rearrange your workspace. These small shifts can help retrain the brain to stay present, flexible, and open to new possibilities. Over time, this creates mental space for innovation, creativity, and peace.
