Ah yes, the ancient art of remembering what we already know. Like where we put the car keys or the name of that actor from that show about the thing. Mindfulness doesn’t require incense, a mountaintop, or a perfectly folded yoga mat. It simply asks us to notice this very moment without judging it, editing it, or running away from it.
Sharon reminds us that we are naturally mindful creatures. Kids do it all the time. They stare at bugs. They get lost in rain puddles. They laugh when someone says “banana.” We, the grown-ups, just tend to pile so many to-dos and should-haves on our minds that we forget we can be.
So don’t make it complicated. Just pause, breathe, look around. Boom. You’re already doing it.

Set an Anchor Reminder
Place a subtle “Mindfulness Reminder” in your daily space. It could be a small sticker on your mug, a pebble in your pocket, or a post-it on your monitor that says “Notice this moment.”
Every time you see it, pause for 5 seconds. Notice your breathing. Notice your body. Notice the mood in the room. That’s it. No bells, no chants, no lotus pose required.
It’s like a gentle mental tap on the shoulder that says, “Hey, you’re alive. Don’t miss this.” It works best when you pick something you interact with often, like your water bottle or your phone case. (Warning: mindfulness may reduce the number of accidental Amazon purchases.)
