"The act of meditation is being spacious." - Sogyal Rinpoche
This quote always speaks to me because it simplifies the essence of meditationâbeing spacious, making room. In our busy schedules, we often feel like we are running out of space: for ourselves, for our thoughts, and even for joy. When we meditate, we create a little room within ourselves. Itâs as if weâre opening the windows of our minds to let some fresh air in. Being spacious means giving ourselves the permission to just beâfree from clutter, stress, and the rush of constant activity. Take a moment today to find a little more space in your day, even if itâs just a few deep breaths.
đ§â Mindful Living Tip
Practice being spacious with a simple exercise: declutter one small part of your environment. This could be your desk, your handbag, or even your inbox. Just choose one thing and give yourself ten minutes to clear it out. As you do this, try to be present with the actânotice how it feels to let go of whatâs no longer serving you. As the space opens up around you, you might notice that your mind begins to feel a little lighter too. Creating physical space can have an incredible impact on your mental well-being. After all, being spacious starts both inside and out.

Weâre inspired by each otherâs stories. Every mindful step you take has the power to inspire someone else to do the same. In this Readerâs Corner, we celebrate real moments of mindfulness from women in our community. Brew a warm cup of tea, get comfy, and enjoy these wonderful reflections:
1. Carla's Walking Meditation - "As a bakery owner, mornings are usually frantic, but I began doing a simple walking meditation on my way to work. Instead of thinking about the long to-do list, I focus on my steps and my breathing. The world seems to slow down, and I arrive at the bakery feeling a lot more grounded and ready to tackle my day." â Carla, Bakery Owner
2. Priya's Mindful Art Practice - "Running an online boutique can get stressful, especially during the holiday season. I picked up sketching as a way to relax. Instead of trying to make it perfect, I just let my pencil move as it wants to, enjoying the feeling of creativity without any pressure. Itâs my time to unwind and let my mind have space to wander." â Priya, Online Boutique Owner
â3. Sophie's Tech-Free Evenings - "I used to feel drained by the end of each day, running my social media marketing business. I made a rule to have tech-free evenings. From 7 PM onward, I put my phone and laptop away. I focus on reading, taking a walk, or simply having dinner without distractions. Itâs given me such a sense of spaciousness and calm, something I didnât know I needed until I tried." â Sophie, Social Media Marketer
