“You must not hate those who do wrong or harmful things, but with compassion, you must do what you can to stop them – for they are harming themselves, as well as those who suffer from their actions.” - Dalai Lama
When I sit with this quote, I’m reminded that reacting with anger only adds more weight to a situation that is already difficult. When someone harms others—or themselves—it’s easy to feel frustrated. But mindfulness teaches me to step back and look with clearer eyes. I don’t have to agree with their actions, but I can respond from a grounded place rather than letting anger lead.
Right now, I’m learning that compassion doesn’t mean accepting harmful behavior. It means choosing to act with intention instead of emotion. When I stay present, I can set boundaries, speak up, or take action with a calm mind. It helps me protect others, protect myself, and still see the humanity in the person causing harm.
One practice that helps me stay steady during conflict is pausing before I respond. I take one slow breath and ask myself, “What is the most helpful response in this moment?” This short pause keeps me from reacting impulsively or saying something I’ll regret later.
By grounding myself first, I stay clearer and more compassionate, even in uncomfortable situations. It’s a simple way to stay aligned with the person I want to be—calm, aware, and intentional.
We’re building a space where women can share honest moments—how they stay present, how they recover their calm, and how mindfulness supports them through challenges. Here are a few stories from our community:
“As a freelance graphic designer, I often struggled with self-doubt and anxiety. I took up yoga as a way to manage stress and found it immensely beneficial. It not only improved my physical health but also my mental clarity, helping me approach my projects with confidence and calmness.” – Lisa, Freelance Graphic Designer
“As a home-based baker, I used to take every criticism personally. I started practicing short breathing breaks whenever I felt overwhelmed. It helped me respond without defensiveness and reminded me that not every comment needs an emotional reaction.” – Tessa, Bakery Owner
“As a real estate agent, I deal with difficult clients sometimes. Mindfulness taught me to separate their stress from my own. I pause, breathe, and focus on the next clear step rather than their tone. It has made my work feel lighter and more manageable.” – Myra, Real Estate Agent
